HELLO OUT THERE IN CYBER WORLD!
What is your voice? What does it even mean to have one? Doesn’t everyone already have a voice they were born with? Let’s take a look at what our unique voices are made of and get back to these questions.
Your voice is a colloquial term for inspiration and passion: something that so drives your mind that it saturates your every action. Art is the simplest forum to discover one’s voice, for it is the basest expression of the human soul.
Meaning that our art is us expressing who we are on the inside. That person inside of us, what do they stand for? Why do they get up in the morning and live the life they live? Because of their voice. Your voice is an indelible mark on the deepest corner identity. It’s as much a part of you as your bones.
What have you got to say for yourself?
That’s the question of a lifetime. What are you trying to say? Is it worth saying? History tells of prolific and powerful voices of men who fought for what they called convictions. What are those?
Conviction: Something that compels me to believe in it, even in the face of logic or reason.
A conviction is something we hold to be true, but unlike an opinion, we will stand and die on this hill if necessary. Why? Because we believe it is right. What is something you believe in so strongly, you fight for it. Friendship? Equality? Higher Minimum Wage, (God-forbid)? Freedom? Christ? Opportunity? Even if I don’t agree with you, I can at least understand your side if you make your voice heard.
I’m a writer, it’s what I do and what I love doing. But that’s not my voice; writing is my vehicle to get it out there. My voice and purpose is to help you, to encourage you, to challenge you, to understand you, to love and inspire you, and to lift Christ up so that world can see Him in me.
I lost sight of that. I had spiritual laryngitis. My voice was gone for a while, but now it’s back!
What are you going to do with your voice?
I ask a lot of question on this blog, but a few of them are particularly important. I hope you answer them in your own heart and on your own time. But, why did God give you a voice? To speak of course! So what are you going to do with the voice you’ve been given?
I wrote a book. A number of years ago I began a story about my life. (Note: I despised writing about my life at the time. I’m still not extremely fond of it.) But I’ve republished it recently and actually, it’s free on Amazon.com today! Right now! You should check it out and leave me a review. But all of that is beside the point. I wrote a book so I could get my voice to be heard by as many people as possible. Not just the followers on the blog or friends on FaceBook, but people I would never be able to reach through those outlets.
When God gives you a gift, He will provide a means for you to use it for His honor and glory!!
As always, thanks for reading.
