A miracle! It’s another day, the sun is still shining, the world is alive around us. Everywhere you look you can see wonder, beauty, growth, and hope!
The trees stretch their branches heavenward in praise. And we began the day with the windows closed, at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee scrolling through Facebook and Instagram feeds… are we missing real life? Sure, I get it. It’s 130° outside, you’ve got work that NEEDS to be done by the middle of this week, and life just has to wait until you’ve got more time. But when will that be? I’m not trying to be a pessimist, but when do you see your life getting less busy? Are you working more now to work less later in life? By that time all of the best years are gone, and for what? So you can enjoy the problems of old age without having to worry about money…
It’s a sad state of things when we sacrifice the best years of our life for money. Something so common and temporal as money should never be prized or prioritized more than the things that really matter. What things are those? Well, take a step back from your busy life for just a second. It’s okay, you can take a break for moment. Back away from the computer keypad, put down the phone. That’s it. Now breathe…
What’s really important to you? What is it in life you care about? You’ve heard the situations where if your house was burning and you could only save one thing, what would it be? It’s overused for sure, but it helps you think about the things that really matter to you in this life. We only get one go around, so let’s make ever day count.
Are You Happy?
Stop! Smell the roses while they’re in bloom. Beauty is all around us, and not just in nature, but in relationships, in people, in everyday life, and even in the little annoyances and troubles we face on a day-to-day basis. When we look for trouble, we’ll find it; or if we don’t find it we’ll cause it. But the same is true of beauty. It’s all around us, all we have to do is stop for a moment and open our eyes to see it.
Life is often made out to be a race. Make all you can, live it up big, YOLO, and you can rest when you’re dead. But half the fun and almost all of the satisfaction comes along the way from the lives we touch, the time we spend with others, the memories we create, and the love we share. Life happens along the way folks. Even while we’re going about our daily lives; putting in our hours; going through the motions; following the routine; take time along the way to give a smile, spark a conversation, enjoy life and invest in ever moment you have because they’re moments in time you will never get back.
Even on a ridiculously hot day, go out and enjoy the sunshine. It’s a day you didn’t deserve and another breathe you weren’t promised. The eclipse could’ve been the end of the world, but it wasn’t. God still has something for us to do here. Let’s not lose sight of what’s important and why we’re all still living on this earth.
As always, thanks for reading.
