In the midst of persecution, praise. In the midst of worry, worship.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
–1 Peter 1:3
Peter, speaking to churches in regions of persecution and troublesome times, encourages them to look beyond their present circumstances to their reward in Christ. The lively hope given us by the resurrection is our eternal home in glory! We are citizens of heaven, being grafted into the family of God by salvation through Christ! Heaven is a personal inheritance of every believer in Christ.
Obtained at salvation,
Soul’s final destination.
Heaven is grace made perfect: the glory of God. Man is not a body with a soul, he is a soul with a body. The soul desires an eternal glory. Through persecution we rejoice in the sufferings of Christ as Christ in us is the hope of glory! Our eternal home is an inheritance from God that is individually specific to every believer. Your inheritance has your name on it. No one else can claim it, it is perfect and it is personal.
The inheritance is great, but the greatest glory of heaven is everlasting peace, joy, and rest at the feet of Jesus in the presence of God!
Our souls endure this mortal flesh
‘Til they receive their final rest.
As always, thanks for reading.
