“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The power of the Word is immense, bordering on unfathomable. The Word of Christ was power during His time on earth. He spoke to demons and they fled, He called to Lazarus and raised Him to life by the word of His mouth, He spoke to the winds and waters on the sea of Galilee and they calmed. There is power in the words of God. But, there is also power in the words of Man.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Obviously we do not have the power to speak physical life or death as we are mortal vessels and whatever power we possess is given us by God. But, the truth of words being influential in the lives of humans is without question. Our words are valuable and carry diverse quantities of significance based upon the opinions others have of those who speak the words. We should strive to understand and use our words in a way that would always be precise. Most often conflicts can be traced back to a misunderstanding of words that were spoken, or a failure to speak the words that were felt.
Speech and language are the most powerful tools we humans possess, let us use our words like swords for that is exactly what they are. Protect, train, exhort, reprove, take care. Know your weapons and use them well.
As always, thanks for reading.
