A friend once told me that something I had said long ago had stuck with him and prevented him from speaking evil of others. I didn’t recognize my own quote when he said it to me, largely because I hadn’t been living it. But, the quote was about how you can build your reputation for a lifetime and a single word or dead can destroy it; and there isn’t enough good you could do in a lifetime to regain that reputation. Integrity was lost is Irretrievable.
Why am I telling you this? As many of you know, today is Movie Review Monday, but, due to the harshness and critical nature of this week’s review, to preserve the integrity of the film and myself I have decided not to post it. I have a tendency to be aggressively analytical to the point of being offensive and that always seems to come out in my technical movie reviews.
Because my reputation is something I wish to improve upon and not degrade, I’ve decided to discontinue Movie Review Monday unless I can find an uplifting and inspiring method to write the reviews. I feel that they are currently only serving the purpose of tearing down the films. If anyone has any comments to make on this, feel free to express yourselves, I’d love a discussion on this point. But, for now at least, it’s better to keep my reputation and let films keep theirs.
It only takes one word or action to destroy a good reputation built over a lifetime.
As always, thanks for reading.
